What Locals Use Most
Everyday Water Services for Santa Cruz Households
Four services cover most of what city households ask us for. You can refill your own bottles instead of buying plastic every week, fill a van before a trip, or plan filtered water for every tap at home.
- The water refill station fills your own glass bottles, jugs and 3 or 5 gallon bottles with mineral-balanced water
- RV water fill stops use a dedicated food-safe, pressure-regulated hose, with no appointment needed
- Whole-home water filtration from Pure Way covers showers, laundry and every faucet in the house
- Reusable water bottles in glass and BPA-free plastic, plus dispensers and accessories

Know the Westside
Our Corner of the Westside, From Mission Street to West Cliff
On the Westside, Mission Street does double duty: it carries Highway 1 through the Westside, past cross streets such as Bay Street and Swift Street. Our store is in the Palm Center at 1715 Mission Street, in the 95060 ZIP code that roughly traces the city's limits from before 1905.
Swift Street runs south from Highway 1 toward the ocean, and West Cliff Drive follows the in-town bluffs west until it ends at Natural Bridges State Beach. Its Monarch Grove shelters thousands of wintering monarch butterflies, which usually arrive in mid-October and leave by mid-February. A full bottle from our refill counter makes a good companion for that walk.

Where City Tap Water Comes From
The City of Santa Cruz Water Department supplies homes across town from four sources: the San Lorenzo River, Loch Lomond Reservoir, a group of North Coast sources and the Beltz groundwater wells. Loch Lomond fills mostly with runoff from its own watershed, plus river water diverted at the Felton Diversion. The Beltz system adds four groundwater wells and two small groundwater treatment plants alongside the river and reservoir supplies.
Typically 90 to 95 percent of the city's water is produced at the Graham Hill Water Treatment Plant. If you still have questions about chlorine, PFAS or heavy metals, a water consultation is the place to talk them through. If you want treated water at every faucet, the three Pure Way stages (Pure Shield, Nano Armor and Chem Guard) handle sediment and scale, fine particles and chlorine, VOCs and taste.

Parking, Loading and Errands at the Palm Center
The Palm Center has parking out front and easy access for RVs and Sprinter vans, so you can pull close to the counter. We keep carts for large containers, and staff can help load heavy bottles into your car. CVS Pharmacy is across the street, with food and coffee nearby, which makes a refill easy to pair with other errands.
Inside, you can see a live demo of the Pure Way system and ask how it would work with your home's plumbing. The system needs no salt, no electricity and no drain line, and it creates no wastewater the way many reverse osmosis units do.
Questions never need an appointment. Stop by, call (831) 222-3585 or email hello@westsidewaterstore.com, and someone on the team will help you sort out refills, an RV fill or a plan for filtered water throughout your home.

How Our Refill Water Is Made and Kept Clean
The water at our counter is mineral-balanced and produced by a professionally maintained, multi-stage treatment process. Equipment gets regular maintenance, filters are changed on a schedule, and the system is sanitized and monitored as a matter of routine. That care is the reason a refill here is worth the drive across town.
You bring the containers, and we fill them. A refill habit pairs well with a water dispenser at home, and the store carries glass bottles, BPA-free bottles, 3 and 5 gallon bottles, jugs, water dispensers and hydration accessories, along with a shelf of local goods. If you are starting from scratch, staff can help you pick a container size that suits how much your household drinks in a week.

Santa Cruz Water Questions

Is the store easy to reach from downtown Santa Cruz?
Yes. The store is at 1715 Mission Street in the Palm Center, along the stretch where Mission Street carries Highway 1 through the Westside. Parking is right out front, and there is room to pull in with an RV or a camper van. Stop by Monday to Saturday, 10am to 6pm, or call (831) 222-3585 if you have a question before you drive over.
Does a home on city water need whole-home filtration?
That depends on your goals. City water is treated at the Graham Hill plant before it reaches you. Some households also want to reduce chlorine, disinfection byproducts, PFAS or other contaminants at every tap, including showers and laundry. A Pure Way system is designed for that while keeping beneficial minerals. Visit the store to see the demo and decide what fits your home.
Can I fill my camper before driving up the coast?
Yes. Our RV and camper fill uses a dedicated food-safe hose with pressure regulation, and no appointment is needed. Mission Street is part of Highway 1, so the stop fits on your way through town. Pull into the Palm Center lot during business hours, Monday to Saturday, 10am to 6pm, and staff will point you to the fill station.
What should I bring for my first refill?
Bring your own clean bottles or jugs, whether glass, BPA-free plastic or 3 and 5 gallon bottles. If you do not have one yet, we sell bottles, jugs and dispensers in the store. Carts are available for large containers, and staff can help load them into your car, so a heavy refill is never a struggle on the way out.
